At TLC, we believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and we recognise that children, parents, early childhood educators, the environment, prior experiences, individual learning styles, and opportunities all contribute to this process. We encourage you to get to know our educators and engage with us about your child’s needs and development.
We are firm believers in the importance of building a strong partnership between the centre and each child’s family. As a parent or guardian, you know your child best, and our educators bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in early childhood development. We are proud of the long-lasting relationships we have with our families, with many siblings attending TLC over the years.

Our Philosophy
At Thornbury Learning Centre, we believe that learning is a lifelong journey, where children, parents, educators, the environment, past experiences, individual learning styles, and opportunities all play vital roles in shaping each child's growth and development.
We deeply value the importance of play, recognising it as essential to every aspect of a child's development, as well as to their overall health, well-being, and happiness. Through play, children expand their skills, knowledge, and understanding of the world around them. We are committed to fostering the development of the "whole child" by offering a variety of choices and play-based experiences that are tailored to each child's interests and developmental stage.
We view children as competent, capable, and successful learners. Our goal is to equip them with essential life skills through daily interactions, a wide range of developmentally appropriate materials and resources, and a foundation of core values such as social equality, shared responsibility, self-discipline, mutual respect, trust, and cooperation.
Our educators are dedicated to being present and engaged in each child's learning journey. Our Story
Thornbury Learning Centre (TLC) has been an integral part of the local community since opening its doors in February 1998. We are a trusted 70-place long-day care centre and kindergarten, providing high-quality care for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
Originally a community hall and church, the building was repurposed to continue serving the local community. The Baptist Church was pleased to see the property transformed into a childcare and kindergarten facility, benefiting local families.
At TLC, we take pride in creating a homely, child-friendly environment. Unlike many purpose-built centres, our spacious rooms offer a more personal and nurturing space for children. As a family-owned business, we value consistency and stability, with a dedicated team of many long-standing staff members. Our Centre Director and Second in Charge have been with us since the centre opened, ensuring a stable and supportive atmosphere for both children and families.
Over the years, we have built strong relationships with local families, providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children to grow. Our experienced educators, many of whom have been with us for years, work closely with families to meet each child’s unique needs, offering personalized care and fostering a deep sense of security and belonging.
Our educators are passionate about guiding children through their learning journeys, creating an environment where curiosity, creativity, and respect thrive. They support each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development while encouraging a love for learning. We are committed to offering an enriching environment that allows every child to grow and thrive at their own pace.

Nurturing Young Minds Since 1998
Thornbury Learning Centre is a long-day care centre and kindergarten, licensed to care for up to 70 children a day from ages 6 months - 5 years. We have been operating since 1998 and are well established in the local community. Our team of dedicated and passionate educators enjoy guiding the children in their learning experiences in a warm, supportive and nurturing environment.
Our significance is our support for families and children and we are a well-regarded childcare centre in Thornbury. Our service is built on the relationship it has forged with children, families and the broader community.
